Bible 12 One semester includes a study of the gospel of Mark and I & II Peter and brief study of Biblical principles of the Christian family and home. The purpose of this course is to prepare seniors for life after high school by giving them hands on study of God's word, striking a balance between learning content and discussing personal application. Students are required to do supplemental readings and prepare a devotional for one class period during the semester One semester includes a study on the book of Hebrews. A brief overview of Christian leadership is also covered. Our study of Hebrews encourages students to persevere in the midst of trials and tests. Emphasis is placed on faith, becoming mature in Christ, the superiority of Christ's sacrifice and his high priestly office. Memory work is taken from selected passages from the book of James. Students are required to do supplemental readings and prepare a devotional for one class period during the semester.
Bible 11 The first two thirds of the year consists of a study of God and his relationship to man. This includes the study of the character of God, evidences of a true Christian, Bible interpretation, prayer, Christian ethics and the books of Ruth, Esther and Jonah. Students will gain a deeper understanding and knowledge of the true God as well as the responsibilities of the Christian in order to have a deeper relationship with God. The last third of the year is devoted to the area of apologetics. By means of this study, students will comprehend ways of communicating the Christian faith to modern man. Bible 10 The study of the Acts of the Apostles and the letters of Paul from Romans to Titus. The main objective is to learn about God's purposes for his church and his provision of the Holy Spirit, so that student's might become pleasing followers of Christ, building up the local fellowship of believers and witnessing effectively in their generation.
Bible 9 The study of Old Testament poetry from Job to Ecclesiastes and of the writings of John, his gospel, three letters and Revelation. A major objective is to demonstrate the sovereignty of God and encourage personal daily trust in him based on the death and resurrection of his son Jesus Christ.
Bible 8 The first three weeks of the year consist of a study of heaven, hell and salvation. The remainder of the year is devoted to a study of the Old Testament historical books from I Samuel to Nehemiah. By becoming familiar with the historical books of the Old Testament, students will be able to recognize how God works in the lives of men and women in order to fulfill his plan of redemption.
Bible 7 This course begins by introducing the student to the miraculous way in which God has used various materials, methods and martyrs to write, translate and preserve his word through the centuries. Students study the books of Joshua, Judges and Ruth from the Old Testament and the books of James, I & II Peter and Jude from the New Testament. Both macro and micro issues are studied and explored in these books, with an emphasis on application of Biblical concepts in the students' daily lives. As a follow-up to learning about Old Testament characters and how God used them, students read and report on a biography or autobiography of a Christian. Students learn about the importance, benefits and methods of personal daily devotions and are encouraged to develop this aspect of their walk. Finally, students are introduced to the Biblical principles which define who they are in Christ and what they can become by knowing God, trusting him, and seeking his perfect will for their lives. |
