Song of Solomon 2: 11-12a – For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone; The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come,…

There is a hint of spring in the air! Perhaps I am a little premature with thoughts of spring weather but I am hoping that we are having our last blast of snow this week and I look forward to some warm spring-like days around the corner.  A few flowers are poking through our landscaping in the front of the school and I am moved to praise God for life and for salvation.  He makes all things new!

School Life

These past few weeks have been busy at Faith Heritage.  We have had several events including Pastors Day, Career Day, Open House, and inSAINTity- our first annual 3 v 3 basketball tournament.

Pastors Day was an absolutely tremendous experience.  I spent the first hour of the morning talking with pastors about how we can best partner with them in training and discipling their young people.  There were some fantastic ideas and I look forward to continuing these conversations in the future.  Our goal for the day was to honor our pastors and to let them know how thankful we are for the spiritual investment they are making in the lives of the children.  It was one of my favorite days of the year and I am already looking forward to doing this again.

I have been part of many career days in districts over the years and I must say that this was the best one by far.  I am very thankful for the 20 volunteers that came in to share their expertise with our 9th-12th graders.  Students had seven, ten minute sessions to hear short presentations about careers that they were most interested in.  How priceless it was to hear from experts that not only shared about their profession but also about how they can serve the Lord with the skills and gifts God has given them.

The senior class officers, along with guidance from Tom Woznica Sr., did an excellent job of organizing a 3 v 3 basketball tournament to raise funds for their Senior Class Trip.  I was very impressed with the work the seniors put into finding sponsors, advertising, and planning all the details of the event.  It was a huge success and it also allowed us the opportunity to get folks into our building that have never seen the school and the awesome things that go on here.

I wanted to thank everyone who participated in our grading and evaluation survey.  We had close to thirty responses.  Before sharing some of the results I wanted to give the opportunity for others to chime in using the link below.  I am excited about working beside teachers and parents to learn the best ways to have our evaluation practices support learning for all students!

Home Life

March Madness at the Capone house means birthdays.  Michaela helped make a Bananagrams cake to celebrate Connie, Michaela, Megan, and Joey’s birthdays.  It is a joyous (and expensive) time of year.  Of course March Madness also means college basketball and our house definitely gets decked out with orange to cheer on the ‘Cuse!
