Head’s Up!–Notes from the Head of School

“But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the Lord charged you, to love the Lord your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.- Joshua 22:5

This morning I shared a devotion with the faculty and staff from Joshua.  It is a book about God’s promises being fulfilled and there is also a charge from Joshua to the Israelites that they “hold fast” to the Lord.  I love the words chosen in the King James as it says we should “cleave unto him.”   I am thankful Continue reading

Head’s Up!–notes from the Head of School

And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.  – Deuteronomy 6:6,7

In staff devotions this week I was “preaching to the choir” about the importance of Christian Education.  As we see the United States continue to spiral into depravity, as pictured in Romans chapter one, I am at the same time hopeful for revival in Syracuse and I am so thankful for Faith Heritage and the opportunity to help parents as they purpose to raise their children in the love and admonition of the Lord.  Josh McDowell said that “In the absence of foundational training, our young people have been influenced by a philosophy that permeates much of our society, government, schools, movies, TV, and music- and guides much of their behaviors without them (or most of us) being aware of it!” The data is staggering of young people that do not believe Continue reading

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:  now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.  – 1 Corinthians 13:12

As we teach children to love the Lord with all their mind we teach them also that one day we will meet our Savior face to face and understand all things clearly- what a glorious day!  I do look forward to that day with all my being and pray that you do as well.   While we anticipate a day when the cares of the world will be no more I have to say that we have been blessed with a taste of heaven recently as we have enjoyed some incredible weather.  I hope that it continues right through the fall.  Can you believe that September is already coming to a close?

I have a few quick things to share with you this week… Continue reading

Judges 7:2 – And the Lord said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, mine own hand hath saved me.

Last Wednesday I had the privilege to speak in Senior High chapel and to encourage and inspire the young people at Faith Heritage through God’s Word.  To kick off chapel for the year I shared the account of Gideon from the book of Judges.  After years of rest followed by disobedience and judgment the Israelites cried out to God for help and He responded in miraculous ways.  God trimmed the army of 32,000 all the way Continue reading

Head of School’s Journal

Faith Heritage 1st day prayerIt was a tremendous first day at Faith Heritage School! More than ever I am excited about our school and the impact it is having in the lives of children. This year we began a new tradition

by inviting our students, faculty, and staff to the front lawn to share in an opening activity.  We gathered in concentric circles near our flagpoles with K-6 on the inside and 7-12 on the outside.  I was able to remind them of our purpose in bringing glory to God and in learning to love Him with Continue reading
